The Minnesota TrailRiders along with all of the Co-Host clubs and sponsors that make this event possible would like to present the fourth annual Minnesota Challenge! This event takes place from August 4 thru August 11, 2007 and will cover most of Minnesota as well as Western Wisconsin. "What is the Minnesota Challenge?" This event can best be described as a nine day off roading marathon through some of the most beautiful and challenging areas of the midwest. The Challenge is to be able to wheel the full week throughout the local trails and parks available to each of the supporting clubs. This is not a contest and there are no prizes. The goal is to meet new people, push yourself and your vehicle to the limit and to have a great time while enjoying some of the most beautiful scenery this area has to offer. "What types of terrain will I see?" The locations the event will cover are dominated by rocks, tight forest trails and steep sand hills. We often see all three at once. Challenges range from mid-level to extreme. There are bypasses at many of the challenges, but not all. Please view the photo galleries for more information on the types of terrain and challenges you could expect to see. "Can I trailer my trail vehicle?" Yes! Most participants trailer their trail vehicle between locations, typically with an RV or a pickup with a camper. This has been one of the most comonly asked questions about this event. 4 wheeling is what the trip is about and trailers help us get in more 4 wheeling with less road time. Schedule For 2007 The Challenge will take participants 4 wheeling in 8 different places over the course of 8 days. Again the dates are August 4 through August 11, 2007. The stops will be in the following order:
"How much does it cost?" This year the cost will be $250.00 per vehicle for basic camping with one person. Extra people and service cost more. The exact price can be figured out on the registration form. This will pay for campsites at the public campgrounds (sewer and electric cost extra), insurance at the places on private land, the cost of trail riding at Pa’s, and Breakfast will be provided each morning. On the last Saturday evening we will have a BBQ and some humorous awards. Everything else will be out of your own pocket. Any monies left over will be donated to the Minnesota 4 Wheel Drive Association. "Do I need to be a member of a club or the Mn4wda to participate?" We do not require membership of any organisation to participate. . "How do I reserve a spot in the Minnesota Challenge?" Registration will be on a first come first served basis. We will limit the event to 30 trail ride rigs that will be registered for the entire trip. On each day the club sponsoring that day may bring in their club members. "Can any vehicle participate?" Almost any vehicle can, the rules will be simple: 1. The vehicle must pass the Trail Riders tech inspection and/or be inspected by another club. Please bring a copy of your clubs inspection list. (http://www.mntrailriders.org/insp.htm for a sample inspection). 2. All vehicles must have a Minnesota off road sticker (DNR sticker). "What's the fine print?" Neither Chuck Howard nor the Minnesota Trailriders represent these trails as being fit for the passage of any vehicle. You will be using any or all of the trails included in the Minnesota Challenge at your own discretion and risk. You may opt to bypass any or all of the obstacles or trails included in the Minnesota Challenge. The insurance policy for the Minnesota Challenge protects the private land owners who allow you to use their property as part of the Minnesota Challenge. This policy does not protect you or your vehicle. All participants in the Minnesota Challenge are required to have their vehicle(s) properly insured for use in the state of Minnesota. Passing the technical inspection in no way implies that you will be able to traverse these trails safely and without damage. Passing the technical inspection does not imply that the driver or occupants of any vehicle are properly protected in the case of an accident, roll over or other mishap. You are ultimately responsible for your own safety, the safety of any passengers and the safety of your vehicle. It is your responsibility to properly equip your vehicle for any event that may occur. The trails used by the Minnesota Challenge are intended to be challenging. Drive train breakage and body damage may result from traversing these trails.
